No matter how much we hate to admit that we are not bothered about a pre-wedding photoshoot, the pre-wedding photos look amazing and give a slight insight into your relationship. Besides your wedding photographs, you will also cherish your pre-wedding photographs for a long time and in this age of Instagram, you will get a lot more professional content to upload.
Looking back to my pre-wedding photoshoot, I realize that I could have gone to some of the unique spots that Kolkata has to offer but I stuck to some tried and tested spots: Victoria Memorial and Princep Ghat. Even though my photoshoot was magical and fun, I could have added more fun elements to it.
None the less, my photos were gorgeous and I absolutely adore them. I often look at them and remember the moments I shared with my husband.
If you have a theme in mind like gardens or monuments or simply portraits, you can easily scout locations based on that.
While traveling all these years to Kolkata, I figured some places look amazing in photos and are great for pre-wedding photoshoots. You just need to run your imaginations wild to get that perfect shot.
So, here I am compiling 5 quirky pre-wedding photoshoot locations in Kolkata for the bride and groom, who want to explore new spots.
Note: All the photos given here are for representation purposes only. I wanted to give you guys an idea of what I am aiming to draw here.
1. Seven Wonders in Eco Park, New Town
New Town Eco Park is an urban park in Rajarhat and the latest feather in Kolkata’s hat of attractions. It has quickly emerged as a favorite among the recent brides and grooms due to its vast wetlands, grasslands, urban forest areas, and activities. It’s a one-stop location for prewedding photoshoots. One of the main highlights of Eco Park is its replicas of the seven wonders of the World.
The park has many other activities to offer such as paddle boating, Shikara ride, duo cycling, speed boating, etc. with which you can add some great moments to your photoshoot.
2. Kolkata Tram
The streets of Kolkata and the old Trams provide an incredible space to weave the stories of love and can be captured beautifully through your lense. Spend the day with your beloved and shoot some fun-filled shots at the various streets of Kolkata.
3. Marble Palace
Marble Palace is a palatial nineteenth-century mansion in North Kolkata. Built-in 1835 by Raja Rajendra Mullick, a wealthy Bengali merchant with a passion for collecting works of art.
The Marble Palace is still a rich private residence, although tours are available. No matter the cultural consideration of Calcutta as a crowded metropolis, this palace recalls the city’s more regal history and a perfect spot to take some of your memorable pre-wedding photos.
4. Jorasanko Thakurbari
At Kolkata, a must-visit is the house of its most cherished and celebrated poet, Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Tagore’s ancestral home, Jorashanko Thakurbari is situated in North Kolkata, close to Girish Park on Chittaranjan Avenue.
This house saw the journey of Rabindranath Tagore from his birth, through his life to his death. Today the house has been converted into a museum that includes collections from Tagore’s life. This can be an ideal spot to hum Rabindranath Tagore’s poems and pose for your pre-wedding photos.
For a more royal theme, visit the Rajbadi Bawali – a 300-year-old Boutique Heritage hotel built in Greco – Roman style or visit the Danish legacy of Serampore – the Serampore Goswami Rajbari.
If you are taking pre-wedding photos before Durga Puja, you are in luck. You can also take “Zamindar” theme photos where the bridegrooms’ can wear traditional Bengali Saree and Kurta in the city’s palatial old private mansion. And you can also rope in your sister or sister-in-law in the photoshoot to double the fun.
Pro-tip: Reach early to your locations to get the place all to yourself without the harsh Kolkata sun.
