Culture

Big city or small village. North, center or South. City or countryside. Mountains or coast. No matter where you go in Italy, you’ll find culture everywhere. Each single place has its own particular culture: it’s traditions, it’s dialect, it’s habits, it’s typical food.

Probably this is one of the reasons why Italians don’t really feel a like one single folk, but it’s also part of its beauty. Say you are in Milan, capital of fashion and home to the Christmas dessert Panettone. Just a few km away, you can be on walking along the lake in Como or reach Venice with its wonderful canals and architecture.

Travelling around Italy is a continuous discovery of culture, of which people are extremely jealous and proud of. Don’t you dare confuse the focaccia from Genoa with the one from Recco! 😉

Art & History

Some of the most important sculptors and painters worldwide were Italian. Without Michelangelo we wouldn’t have the Sistine Chapel and without Brunelleschi we wouldn’t have the amazing Dome on top of Florence’s cathedral. And who can forget that also Giotto and Leonardo da Vinci were Italian?

The high number of civilizations that conquered Italy and the many reigns in which it has been divided until 1861, gave Italy a variety of forms of art that you can still admire nowadays. From Roman ruins to Reinassance buildings, from Christian art like St Peter’s Church in Rome to medieval castles and much more.
