An escape to Nandi Hills

From a long time, I wanted to visit Nandi Hills with my husband. Last time when I went there was during my college days. Nandi Hills is an ancient hill fortress situated in a district called Chikkabalapur in Karnataka.

We started at 3 am in the morning so that we can watch the sunrise from the viewpoint at the hilltop. It is 62 km from Bangalore and we opted for Ola Outstation. By the time we reached, around 25 cars were already parked up ahead of us.

We didn’t take our car up. Instead, we walked from the base to the viewpoint. In exchange for the early start and the pitch-black trek, we were rewarded with the most magical views of the sunrise. While there’s a specific viewpoint to enjoy the sunrise, we found the views to be great from other locations as well. Even if you’re reaching there late, or plan to stay for a few hours this place can be a brilliant picnic spot. There is enough area, various viewpoints and parks that one can spend the day there until the sun hits hard.

Top Tip: Nandi Hills is a popular place for pre-wedding photo-shoots for Banglorians.

When we finally walked back at about 7.30 am, we realized that the scenic beauty in and aroud Nandi Hills is much more beautiful in daylight. At the base of Nandi Hills, we visited Bhoga Nandishwara Temple. We spent an ample amount of time clicking pictures there as well.
