Explore the Hidden Gems of Nepal in 2021

Nepal is known all over the world for its spectacular mountains, its rich cultural ambiance, rolling valleys, picturesque villages, and sundry wildlife. However, Nepal has much more places to offer than its most visited Golden Triangle – Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan.

Although the famous locations are quite spectacular in their own unique way and hold special places in my people’s hearts, you may want to go off the beaten path and explore the less-trodden destinations every once in a while to truly take in the beauty and repose of Nepal. Tucked between China and India, Nepal is an amalgamation of the ancient and the modern, a little unique strip of land where time seems to be on pause. Here are some hidden gems of Nepal, that will mesmerize you with their untouched beauty.

Chasing Pocketful of Sunshine in Sunflower Fields in Karnataka

While coming back from Mysore to Bangalore, we found an enormous field full of sunflowers right beside the highway. Needless to say, we wanted to take a break from the long drive and spend some time amidst the sunflowers. The entire field looked like a painting with tall sunflowers swaying in the wind with the blurry outline of green hills in the backdrop.

Fun Things to Do When You’re Bored At Home

During these strange times, when traveling is out of the question, you soon run out of things to do or find not many places to go. You run through all the best movies on Netflix, finish an entire cookbook, find yourself itching to create new memories after looking through your old ones quite a few times and the walls start to feel a little closer than they were before.

It’s natural to get bored. Instead of sitting around on your phone getting lost in the news and social media (and slowly losing your mind), lean on to some fun things you can do on your rooftop or in your own backyard.

A Look into the Neyphug Heritage’s Your Cafe, Bhutan

Located right next to the Paro-Thimphu highway and only a five-minute drive away from the Paro International Airport is a cafe set in what was a previously abandoned ruin. After restoration, the traditional Bhutanese mud-rammed building has become a landmark that can be seen from afar and its unpainted exterior emanates a rustic character to the entire place.

You can certainly use this time indoors to learn a new language that you always admired, cook a new recipe that you never got around to, read the book that you love or simply binge-watch your favorite travel movies.

All About My Weekend at Sundarbans

Imagine being immersed in a captivating silence, watching the vast stretch of mangroves on both sides, only to be interrupted by the hoarse sound of the boat’s engine. Taking a weekend tour to the World’s most dense mangrove forest in Sundarbans is a thrilling experience of a lifetime.

Sundarbans is formed by the confluence of three rivers – Ganga, Brahmaputra and Meghna spanning from the Hooghly river in West Bengal, India to the Baleshwar river in Bangladesh. Sunderbans National Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 and a Ramsar site since 2019.

A Nostalgic Visit to Puri – The Abode of Lord Jagannath

As soon as our train stopped at the busy railway station of Puri, I was excited to see the city after a long time. Puri is one of the most visited cities in the Indian state of Odisha where people come in search of spirituality or solace for a few days.

Only 60 km away from Bhubaneshwar, Puri is home to the famous 12th-century Jagannath temple which draws almost half of the total visitors to Odisha (formally known as Orissa). Puri is also known as Sri Jagannatha Dhama after the Jagannatha Temple and is one of the original Char Dham pilgrimage sites for Hindus.
