Looking back to my pre-wedding photoshoot, I realize that I could have gone to some of the unique spots that Kolkata has to offer but I stuck to some tried and tested spots: Victoria Memorial and Princep Ghat. Even though my photoshoot was magical and fun, I could have added more fun elements to it. So, here I am compiling 5 quirky pre-wedding spots in Kolkata for the next bride-to-be’s.
Note: All the photos given here are for representation purpose only. I wanted to give you guys an idea of what I am aiming to draw here.
1. Seven Wonders in Eco Park, New Town
Not one but you can pose with seven wonders of the world in Eco Park, New Town. Yes, that’s right. Spreading over an area of three acres of land, the 7 Wonders in Eco Park Kolkata are :
India’s Taj Mahal.
Brazil’s Christ the Redeemer.
Moai statues of Easter Island.
The Great Wall of China.
Colosseum of Rome.
Petra in Jordan.
The Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt.
With great camera angles and photoshop magic, your photos will look like the real deal.
2. Floatel hotel
Floatel, dubbed as eco-friendly, is an unique floating hotel situated on river Hooghly. Once on board, you can get some amazing shots from the deck.
Capture some memorable photos with your beloved gazing at the scenic river views and feeling the breeze brushing through your hairs. Don’t forget to pause and enjoy the sunrise/sunset from the deck/rooms if you are staying here for the day.
3. Marble Palace
Marble Palace is a palatial nineteenth-century mansion in North Kolkata. Built in 1835 by Raja Rajendra Mullick, a wealthy Bengali merchant with a passion for collecting works of art.
The Marble Palace is still a rich private residence, although tours are available. No matter the cultural consideration of Calcutta as a crowded metropolis, this palace recalls the city’s more regal history and a perfect spot to take some of your memorable pre-wedding photos.

4. Jorasanko Thakurbari
At Kolkata, a must visit is the house of its most cherished and celebrated poet, Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Tagore’s ancestral home, Jorashanko Thakurbari is situated in North Kolkata, close to Girish Park on the Chittaranjan Avenue.
This house saw the journey of Rabindranath Tagore from his birth, through his life to his death. Today the house has been converted into a museum that includes collections from Tagore’s life. This can be an ideal spot to hum Rabindranath Tagore’s poems and pose for your pre-wedding photos.
5. Shobhabazar Rajbadi
For a more historically filled theme, visit the Shobhabazar palace or Rajbadi. The Shobhabazar Rajbadi is among one of the oldest Royal houses of Kolkata aristocracy. It was built by Raja Nabakrishna Deb, who was a prominent aristocrat of Kolkata.
If you are taking pre-wedding photos before Durga Puja, you are in luck. You can also take “Zamindar” theme photos where the bride groom to-be’s can wear traditional Bengali Saree and Kurta in the city’s palatial old private mansion. And you can also rope in your sister or sister-in-law in the photoshoot to double the fun.
Pro-tip: Reach early to your locations to get the place all to yourself without the harsh Kolkata sun.
Pre-wedding photoshoots are a great way to break the ice in arranged marriages and commemorate your love for each other for eternity. So guys, go ahead, have fun and take some adorable pictures!
