Lankan Cabs Review, Sri Lanka

During the initial days of planning our trip to Sri Lanka, my husband and I were looking at travel agencies for whole packages. But after my Mauritius trip with Thomas Cook, I decided to plan our routes, book the hotels and activities ourselves to customize according to us.

Once we finalized our route and the places where we would like to stay at night, the next question was how we are going to travel from one city to another within the limited time that we had. Since we were traveling with my parents, we decided to go for a cab service over public transports. After searching extensively, we decided to book a van for 9 passengers with luggage space from Lankan Cabs.

My Experience

After finalizing the total fare for 7 nights and 8 days[1200 km] including pickup and drop from the airport, we were asked to pay a token amount to complete the booking process. At this point, we were a little skeptical about wiring the money to Mr. Nalakka [owner/director of Lankan cabs] but took a leap of faith here as there were mixed reviews about them in Google.

After reminding Mr. Nalakka a couple of times to send us the invoice for our booking in email, eventually, he sent us the invoice copy just before our trip. We had also booked Whale watching and Yala Safari through him as he was giving us a better deal at the time.

Upon reaching Sri Lanka, we met Ruwan, who was the designated driver for our entire stay. He was a polite guy from around Colombo and spoke manageable English. The initial days were all good but on our Day 3, Ruwan got hospitalized for lower abdomen pain in wee hours of the day. In that situation, Mr. Nalakka arranged an alternative driver to drive us from Nuwara Eliya to Tissamaharama and to stop in between for sightseeing as we were on a tight schedule.

On the next day, we met Mr. Nalakka in Tissamaharama and he drove us around Mirissa in absence of Ruwan. He told us about the old stories of Mirissa and Weligama villages. And even brought fresh Sri Lankan cashews for us to taste. It was a very kind gesture on his part. He made our journey delightful, to say the least. As Ruwan got back from the hospital, he joined us to drive us around Colombo and drop us back at the airport. Both Mr. Nalakka and Ruwan guided us well on the local attractions and helped us utilize our time efficiently.

Conclusion

Lankan Cabs is a fairly new travel agency who are trying their best to serve us and show the best of Sri Lanka. After finding mixed reviews on Google, I took a chance on them and had a very comfortable journey with them. They took really good care of us and were ready to guide us whenever required.
