My trip to the forgotten land of Garh Panchkot is engraved in my heart as if it was yesterday. Garh Panchkot is a ruined fort located at the foothills of Panchet Hill in the district of Purulia, West Bengal. The remnants of the Garh (fortress) bear a silent testimony of the Bargi attack during the 18th century. An excursion to Lepakshi from Bangalore
One of our friends recently purchased a car and took us for a long drive to Lepakshi, a historic village in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh on Karnataka Formation Day (1st November). Approximately 120 km from Bangalore, Lepakshi makes an interesting place to visit in weekends because of its many legends.
Lepakshi has a cultural and archaeological significance as it has shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Veerabhadra which were built during the Vijayanagara kings’ period.

The road from Kodaikanal to Valparai is very scenic with 40 hairpin bends on the way up to Valparai from Aliyar. You can see the forest giving way to plantations as you reach the town.

The word “Kodaikanal” loosely means “The Gift of the Forest” which it undoubtedly is. Kodaikanal every year attracts a lot of tourists, who are looking for an escape from their mundane lives.

How do you feel about an impromptu journey? The sudden weekend getaways, in my opinion, are ideal for relaxing your overworking brain.
